In the world of popular media, we could observe that
our grandparents were, perhaps, the radio generation. It may
follow that our parents were the movie generation. That would
make us, the John R. Rogers class of 1960, the television generation.
The TV medium came of age even as we were coming of age. It partially
shaped who we are. This year's site theme is about our connection to the
greater World through snowy black, gray, and white images rendered
directly into our 1950s living rooms. We're presenting this series of
articles through the medium of our offspring: the World Wide Web.
